Hanging Holiday Heart Basket

Thanks so much for stopping by- especially those participating in todays Tina Wenke and MarkerPop Blog Hop. This is so much fun!

All of you amazing designers have been making so many beautiful projects
with our stamps and papers. I am truly soooo GRATEFUL!

Since I don’t have a die cut machine yet, I decided to keep my project simple- using hand drawn shapes as templates. I’ve included a digital pdf version of the shapes for you to drag and drop if you would like to try this project yourself J

First, I traced then cut all the shapes used from the papers this required 4 sheets of paper from the Holiday Combination Pack. Here’s a list of the papers I used;

-       Gifts (Small Heart)
-       Greenery (Small Flower)
-       Rejoice (Leaves)
-       Holly (Medium Heart)

Next, I traced the large heart shape twice on the piece of tan chipboard which comes with the paper pack to make the front and back of the heart basket. After I cut the chipboard, I used spray glue to attach the medium heart first to the board then the small heart next and added a stitching pattern with deep red color pencil.

Then I started on the holiday flower – I stitched all three layers of the flower with the button in the center to hold the flower together. Finally I added pieces of foam tape in between the flower layers to give them dimension and added more foam tape on the bottom of the flower to attach it to the hearts and did the same with the leaves.

I glued the bottom half of the chipboard hearts together with hot glue to make the basket. I curled black wire together with red beads to make the handle. After this, I attached the wire to the heart. I did this by poking 2 small holes into the chipboard with a push pin, pushed the wire through and twisted it back around at both ends.

And the final touch was to tie a green raffia bow onto the left side of the heart right where the wire was connected to the board. Added some candy canes and I was finished:)

Materials Used for the Holiday Hanging Heart Basket;

-1 12x12 piece of Tan Chipboard (used to keep the paper pack flat)
            -Red button and thread
            -Foam tape
            -Hot glue
            -Black wire and red beads
            -Green paper raffia

Sooo Cute

Today I have a wonderfully cute and very pretty winter card design from Samantha Peyton using one of my Stampavie Winter images "Alex In The Snow With Puppies". I love this design, it's colors, ribbon and especially the textured background, I think you will like it too:)

It's such a sweet card and so perfect for the holidays. The colors are very contemporary and beautifully painted. Samantha has a very detailed step by step tutorial with her creative process for this card on her blog. I recommend you stop by to see it if you can, it's both instructional and really gets
the creative ideas flowing!

Cardinal and Pine

Cardinals are my favorite winter bird (well truthfully I love chickadees too) their red is so perfect for use on many backgrounds. And they all say "Holidays" even without the words. They stand out so beautifully on a cool winter's walk in the woods as well.

Michelle Oatman has created a wonderful rich design using a cardinal stamp and our Snowflake papers. Her colors are perfect with the buttons and ribbon and I love the placement of the Cardinal on this pattern. Michelle has such great attention to detail in her designs! I hope you enjoy this design as much as I do:)

Here is my stamp design for Stampavie's 2012  Winter Collection of a Cardinal for this years collection. I hope you like it!

Adorable Snowflakes and Buttons

I love this new design from Michelle Oatman's blog created for the High Hopes Challenge titled "Snowflakes and Buttons". First, it's the design and colors, second, the way she used the new "Snowflakes" Winter Card Making Papers is just gorgeous! Designers amaze me, how Michelle brought together these separate pieces so quickly and made such a wonderful image is wonderful:)

The blue buttons and ribbon with the way she used the papers are perfect. Using both for the main Christmas red background and then used the light blue star patterned paper as a border with the dark blue paper similar to the buttons as well as the gray edge of the card. And then, tying it all together with the blue gray ribbon.

I especially like the way she reversed the color of the snow patterned papers on the inside. Putting the red stripe of paper on the light blue is perfect!

Thanks Michelle!

More Tina Wenke New Winter Stamps:)

Hi everyone,

I thought I'd show you some more of the new collection for winter from Stampavie.
These were so much fun to design and draw I can't wait to share all twenty with you!
Each one has a special place in my heart because I always love to draw from Holiday
memories of my own children who are now grown. Also, winter critters are my
absolute favorite critters of all.
"Cardinal on Pine Branch" I did not know, there are no Cardinals in France.
They are one of my favorite birds since they stay all through the winter:)

"Feeding Winter Birds" This little girl reminds me of my daughter Sarah,
all warm in her new winter coat.

"Mouse With Stocking" This little guy makes me think of Christmas Eve,
all warm and cozy, waiting for Santa to arrive;)

Pysanke Egg Coloring Fun!

Pysanke Easter Eggs

This past week I was blessed with an amazing opportunity to learn the art of creating brilliantly colored Pysanky eggs. A delightful artistic couple in my community hosted a gathering. We learned a brief history of this wonderful Ukrainian tradition that began before the birth of Christ and is now a Lenten ritual in that country. We also learned the technique of creating them.

Many of these beautiful eggs are highly decorated with intricate patterns and symbols intended to bring the person who receives it love, health, fertility, or any blessing the artist wishes. Since we had a limited amount of time I chose organic shapes and abstract patterns because I knew I was going to make a lot of mistakes and they would be easily camouflaged. I was rather pleased with my results.

The technique works like batik where you work in reverse using layers of wax and dies working light to dark. Then finally heating the wax and wiping off the layers to magically reveal the masterpiece. It was soooo much fun!

If you would like to learn more about Pysanky eggs or purchase materials for creating them yourself visit www.ukrainiangiftshop.com. I think I’m going to invest in some supplies of my own and make it a Wenke/Pysanke tradition. LOL
